Pashupatinath – Nepal’s holiest Hindu shrine located along the Bagmati River, where cremation ghats and temples draw pilgrims from all over the subcontinent.
Boudhanath Stupa – One of the largest stupas in the world, surrounded by monasteries and Tibetan shops. A hub for Tibetan pilgrims, this site hums with prayer wheels, incense, and chanting from dawn to dusk.
Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple) – Perched atop a hill, this iconic stupa is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in Nepal and offers panoramic views over the Kathmandu Valley.
Day 3: Patan and Bhaktapur – Exploring Newar Heritage
Today you explore two of the Kathmandu Valley’s ancient city-states—both UNESCO World Heritage Sites and centers of Newar art and architecture.
Patan (Lalitpur) – Known as the “City of Beauty,” Patan is famous for its exquisite temples, courtyards, and Buddhist monasteries. Visit the impressive Golden Temple (Hiranya Varna Mahavihar), Krishna Mandir, and Patan Durbar Square. The city is also home to four ancient stupas attributed to Emperor Ashoka.
Bhaktapur – Arguably the best preserved of the three ancient capitals, Bhaktapur feels like an open-air museum. Stroll through Durbar Square, admire the Lion Gate, Golden Gate, and visit the National Art Gallery, which showcases both Buddhist and Hindu masterpieces.
Day 4: Parping – Guru Rinpoche’s Sacred Cave
On your final day, take a short excursion to Parping, a sacred site on the southern edge of the Kathmandu Valley. Visit the Asura Cave, where Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) is said to have meditated and attained realization. This tranquil pilgrimage site is adorned with colorful prayer flags and revered by Tibetan Buddhists. Return to Kathmandu. The tour concludes in the afternoon.
