Ngari, or far western Tibet, is the most remote region of the Tibetan plateau and one of the most powerful pilgrimage landscapes in Asia. This high-altitude region is home to Mount Kailash, Lake Manasarovar, the ruins of the Guge Kingdom, Tholing Monastery, Tirthapuri, Burang, Dungkar and Piyang, and sacred Himalayan views around Gurla Mandhata.

Known as the “roof of the roof of the world,” Ngari averages around 4,500 meters and is best suited to travelers interested in pilgrimage, rugged overland journeys, ancient Buddhist sites, archaeological remains, nomad culture and the wide-open landscapes of western Tibet.
